SILVER SPRINGS — Virginia City picked up an impressive nonleague win to build momentum for a key league confrontation by beating Silver Stage 48-43 on Tuesday.

Colt Hess scored 20 points, Tommy Redican had 12 points and Ireland Franklin added eight points for the Muckers. Virginia City travels to Sierra Lutheran for a 7:30 p.m. makeup game today in a contest between two teams who are tied for second in league.

Yerington stops Dayton

DAYTON — The Dust Devils faltered in the second half and dropped a 59-43 nonleague decision to Yerington on Tuesday night.

J.J. Ply led the Dust Devils with 16 followed by Chase Peterson with six. Trevor Burrows and Blake Fletcher added five each.

Dayton visits Fallon on Friday.

JV BASKETBALL

Douglas tops Carson

Despite 17 points by Jackson Sayre, Carson dropped a 47-42 decision to Douglas on Tuesday in Carson.

Christian Ortega added seven and Gavin McIntosh six for the Senators, who dropped to 9-9.

VARSITY GIRLS

Sierra Lutheran wins

Zephyr Cove — Sierra Lutheran rolled to a 46-29 win over Whittell. Grace Bonafede posted a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, Clare Davison added 11 points, five rebounds and five steals and Brynna Hansen scored 11 points.

Lions stop Dayton

DAYTON — The Dust Devils fell behind by double digits and never recovered in a 40-26 loss to Yerington Tuesday night.

Aleea McGill-Howe led Dayton with nine points, four rebounds and two steals, and Elora Neep had eight points and five rebounds. Kristina Mason pulled down eight rebounds.

“I was happy with our intensity coming out tonight,” coach Kelly Frantz said.

“It was great getting back on our own court after being on the road for almost three weeks. We played great defense.”


JV GIRLS BASKETBALL

Yerington pounds Dayton

DAYTON — The Lions had an easy time against Dayton, winning 35-11, Tuesday afternoon.

Alexius Valladares led Dayton with four points and Tamia Powell pulled down seven rebounds.


COMMUNITY

Platz wins FT crown

Eric Platz won the Elks National Hoop Shoot 8-9 regional championship last weekend at Wooster High in Reno.

Platz will now advance to the next round in Hawthorne.

In the 10-11 girls, Dayna Myrehn was second by one shot, and in the 10-11 boys, Reese Torres lost in two overtimes. Amani Brund was second in the 12-13 girls and Quentin Beck finished fourth in the 12-13 boys.


Eagle Valley tops PWL

The Eagle Valley seventh-grade volleyball team won 20-25, 25-18 and 15-9 over Pau Wa Lu in middle school volleyball action.

Emma Stagliano had eight points, 10 assists and two digs, Caydee Farnworth added eight kills, six digs and an ace, Olivia Smith had four kills, eight assists and seven points, and Lilly Ralla finished with three digs and five kills.
