An event whose goal is to raise support for homeless pets is returning after a three-year hiatus with a new addition — the chance to win a 2017 Toyota Corolla.
Anyone who purchases a $25 raffle ticket from the Nevada Humane Society earns the chance to win a new car while helping to save the life of a homeless pet.
The raffle is part of this year’s Walk for Animals Aug. 12 at Sparks Marina, 300 Howard Drive. Thanks to Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota, the car is up for grabs.
The event will open with registration at 10, and the walk will follow at 11 a.m. Festivities will follow until 2 p.m.
Walkers are encouraged to gather monetary pledges to support them as they make the two-mile walk around Sparks Marina. The pledges benefit homeless pets.
Entertainment, vendors, food trucks, pet adoptions and the car raffle will follow the event. The winner doesn’t need to be present.
Organizers encourage participants to start collecting donations now, as prizes will be given to the top three individuals as well as the top three teams.
Registration varies from $10 to $50 and includes a T-shirt.
Raffle tickets are $25 each at the Nevada Humane Society, 549 Airport Road in Carson City or 2825 Longley Lane in Reno, or Carson City Toyota, 2590 S. Carson St. Also, raffle tickets are available by calling 775-856-2000, ext. 320.
Registration for individuals and teams is at www.NevadaHumaneSociety.org. Individuals also can sign up at the event, but teams must register online.
The Walk for Animals is sponsored by Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota, My News 4, My 21 TV, FOX 11, the Reno News and Review, 95.5 The Vibe, Wild 102.9, Talk Radio KOH, K-Bull 98.1, Renown Health and Hometown Health.
