Thanks to support from generous neighbors in Northern Nevada, progress is being made at the Veterans Healing Camp complex in Silver Springs.
The three-bedroom group home has been cleaned out, repainted, and new carpeting has been installed. A veteran is moving into the home who is ready to help other veterans in need.
The exterior of the property has been cleaned, and truckloads of tumbleweeds have been hauled away. There are several dead trees that still need to be cleared, but the two acres of land is ready to develop. This will provide work for local veterans and future income for the Veterans Healing Camp.
“Our first project will be to plant fruit trees and start construction of the garden and irrigation systems,” said Shahla Fadaie, president of Veterans Healing Camp.
The organization is in need of a tree service that will remove the remaining dead trees to make room for new fruit trees. It also needs donations of fruit trees, seeds, topsoil, dirt, gardening tools, irrigation systems, one-inch chicken wire, fence posts, tomato cages, a garden bench, picnic table, solar lights and basically anything that’s needed for gardening and irrigation.
For those larger donors, the wish list also includes a greenhouse, tractor, utility trailer, small pond and chicken coops.
