A training event is planned for all Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program volunteers and anyone considering becoming a volunteer.
RSVP will hold its quarterly training session for volunteers from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Conference Room, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 12.
The training will feature Tom Taylor of Infinity Hospice Care, who will share information on functional declines and how RSVP volunteers can identify when it’s time to move their clients to higher levels of care.
Other topics will include a focus on the benefits and responsibilities of volunteering, as well as new program opportunities such as increased mileage reimbursement and expanded volunteer options.
The free training includes a question and answer session.
RSVP’s mission is to help frail, homebound, and low-income seniors remain independent by providing high quality programs which allow them to stay in their own homes with dignity.
Additionally, RSVP coordinates a volunteer network of seniors who use their skills and talents to provide support to community agencies and address community needs through service.
The training will be broadcast to various locations in rural Nevada.
To become a volunteer and for information about the program, contact RSVP Program Director Sandy Severance at 775-687-4680, ext. 6. Call to reserve a seat as space in the training program is limited.
