Lyon County officials said the Walker River is beginning to drop after residents in the Walker River Basin reported seeing a high river flow.
Lyon County Manager Jeff Page said many residents in Yerington, Smith Valley and Mason Valley have removed flood protection measures.
Page said high flows are expected on occasion, but extreme levels similar to what the river saw earlier in the year aren’t expected.
All roads are open, except Miller Lane which is closed because water is still flowing over it at some spots.
Once the water recedes, county crews need two to three weeks for Miller Lane to dry before they can assess the damage and make necessary repairs, Page said.
Miller Lane is the main route to A Night in the Country, an annual concert returning July 27-30. Significant delays are expected on Highway 95A south into Yerington, Goldfield Avenue at Main Street and Highway 95A going east from Yerington during the event.
