The Cowboy-Con Expo to be held Aug. 4-6 at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center will offer a film festival, poker tournaments and vendors selling a variety of western wares and mementoes.
The band Spur Crazy will perform during the western dance, along with impersonators Keith Ormord as Kenny Chesney and Michael Suggs as Toby Keith.
Various films will be shown, and several cast members, directors, producers, wild horse advocates, radio and television personalities, cowboy poets, and talent casters will be on hand.
Performers from the film “Destiny” who are slated to appear include Johnny Ray Gibbs, Jessica Morris and Christian Boeving.
Dominic Pace, an actor, writer and director, will be on hand along with local Greg Grant, who regularly performs in Virginia City and plays an embittered lawman in the film.
Others planning to attend include: Chase Lee, Richard Lee, Horsebard Roy, Alaina Phillips, Rebecca Schrembri, Greg Antonucci, Amy Cates, Serena Lorien, Armond AC Franklin, Ronee Collins, Jessica Soss, Sam Rivas, Dan Kimm, Susan Giacona, Samantha Skye and Carrie Rubins.
“Destiny” is a movie short filmed in the greater Reno area and directed by John Pacino. The story of love and revenge is set in the old west. It aims to capture the spirit of post-Civil War unrest and uncertainty that gripped the nation.
“Destiny” will be previewed at the festival banquet from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Atlantis Casino’s Grand Ballroom.
