More than 20 kittens find homes through adoption event

On July 22 and 23 kittens found their forever homes during the Kitten Adoption Day at Michael Hohl Honda, which also donated 50 percent of each adoption fee.

“We are very grateful to all the Michael Hohl Honda employees, and especially Sales Manager Autumn Smith, who provided us with this wonderful venue to showcase the kittens and for helping cuddle them in order to ease the anxiety common with being in unfamiliar surroundings,” said Linda Buchanan, Catmandu founder, who also expressed her gratitude to all the Catmandu staff, volunteers, and the foster parents who care for many of the kittens.

The indoor event lasted four hours and provided a friendly atmosphere away from the day’s heat and allowed individuals and families plenty of room to get acquainted with their future pets.

“We were fortunate to have such a successful adoption day with all the other activities around town,” said Karen Joseph, Catmandu’s foster program coordinator.

Anyone wishing to adopt kittens may do so Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at the Catmandu sanctuary and adoption center, 1829 Brown St.

Catmandu is a nonprofit, alternative-style shelter for homeless cats and kittens in need of their forever homes. The cage-free, group-home setting provides adoptable cats with a low-stress environment to minimize trauma and distress.

In addition to adoptable house cats, feral-born kittens are socialized, given medical care, and are spayed or neutered prior to being placed in their forever homes.
