Since Fallon switched from Little League to Cal Ripken in the late 1990s, it has hosted several state and regional all-star tournaments.

This year is no exception as the Cal Ripken state baseball tournament returns to Fallon this week as teams from four programs collide at the county regional park. Pool play for the 8-, 9-, 10- and 12-under divisions begins on Thursday and the single-elimination tournament is Sunday. Championship games are also on Sunday.

The winner of the state advances to the regional tournament next month.

In the 8-under bracket, all four programs — Silver State, Sun Valley, Spanish Springs and Fallon — will be in action on Thursday beginning at 3 p.m. Silver State faces Sun Valley in the first game followed by Fallon and Spanish Springs at 5:30 p.m. Fallon takes on Silver State on Friday at 3 p.m. followed by Sun Valley and Spanish Springs. Spanish Springs and Silver State meet on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by Sun Valley and Fallon at 12:30 p.m. Elimination begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The 9-under bracket features only Silver State, Fallon and Silver Springs with the latter facing off at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Spanish Springs plays Silver State at 12:30 p.m. and then Fallon at 3 p.m. on Friday. Silver State and Fallon play at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, Spanish Springs faces Silver State at 10 a.m. and Fallon at 12:30 p.m. The No. 1 seed gets a bye on Sunday as the remaining teams play at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

In the 10-under division, Sun Valley opens with Fallon at 3 p.m. on Thursday and Silver State at 5:30 p.m. Fallon plays Silver State at 10 a.m. on Friday and Sun Valley at 12:30 p.m., while Silver State takes on Sun Valley at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Fallon at 5:30 p.m. The Nos. 2 and 3 seeds play at 10 a.m. on Sunday with the winner taking on the No. 1 seed.

In the oldest age group (12-under), Silver State faces Fallon at 4 p.m. on Thursday and Sun Valley at 6:30 p.m., while Fallon takes on Sun Valley at 4 p.m. on Friday and Silver State at 6:30 p.m. Sun Valley faces Silver State at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Fallon at 6:30 p.m. The Nos. 2 and 3 seeds meet at 11 a.m. on Sunday with the winner facing the No. 1 seed.
