Continuing with past traditions, the Churchill County Parks and Recreation Department, the city of Fallon and the Chamber of Commerce bring you numerous activities associated with this holiday event.
The day’s festivities — themed “Small Town USA” — include the parade, music, food as well as attractions and games for all ages.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. downtown followed by the return of the bed races on Maine and a picnic in the park plus more at the Churchill County Fairgrounds, starting at 11:30 a.m. this year.
There will be fun for all including the following:
Live music
A wide variety of food
Local vendors
Bounce houses
Children’s games & crafting
4-H activities
Archery
The Tommy Lee Roping Show
Northern Nevada Radio Control demonstrations
And much more...
PARADE
10-11 a.m. — This standard course starts at Virginia and Taylor Streets.
BED RACES
11 a.m.-noon — Maine Street
PICNIC IN THE PARK
11:30 a.m. — Gates open
12:15-1 p.m. — First band on stage (Larry and Dineen Little)
1-1:15 p.m. — National Anthem (sung by local 4-H)
1:20-1:50 p.m. — Watermelon-Eating Contest (all ages)
1:50-2 p.m. — Parade award winner announcements
2-3 p.m. — Second band on stage (Southbound Train)
3:15-3:30 p.m. — Closing remarks
(The fairgounds’ multi-purpose building will feature some of these activites.)
There will also be swimming at the county pool next door.
FIREWORKS
At dusk (about 9:15 p.m.) — Hosted at Rattlesnake Raceway
