A fundraiser will be held Saturday to raise money for the summer music festival to honor fallen Carson City deputy Carl Howell.
The fundraiser will be Saturday at the Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar in Carson City from 3 to 7 p.m., to cover costs for the inaugural Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival held last summer at Battle Born Harley-Davidson in Carson City. There will be specific kinds of adult beverages in shot glasses made available. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to help cover the costs of the Memorial Music Festival.
The Aug. 19 Memorial Music Festival will be hosted by The Last Response Memorial Fund, a nonprofit organization established by Carson City resident Don Alexander and a handful of community members. The all-ages, day-long festival will feature a number of local, regional and national touring musicians, celebrity guest appearances, a show and shine, motorcycle demonstrations, a silent auction, food and drinks.
The Memorial Music Festival will serve as a fundraiser for Deputy Carl Howell’s children and all proceeds will be placed into a trust fund for their benefit. Deputy Carl Howell, a nine-year veteran with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, was killed in the line of duty on Aug. 15, 2015.
