Anyone who would like to learn how to whip up fresh pasta, tortillas and other fare can sign up for Sierra Chef’s cooking classes this month.
Pasta making for couples from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday will help students create potato gnocchi from scratch as well as fresh basil pesto. Students also will make handmade ravioli and Bolognese sauce. The class, $65 per person, includes wine pairing.
A workshop on March 15 will focus on food preparation and cooking tips. Cynthia Ferris-Bennett, owner of Sierra Chef, will offer five practical microwave recipes featuring staple items from the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. The class is free but space is limited.
Sample Sierra Chef appetizers at a wine tasting event from 4 to 7 p.m. March 16 at Grocery Outlet, 1831 N. Carson St. The event is free to attend.
Street tacos made with fresh tortillas will be on the menu on March 25. Students will learn how to make fresh corn tortillas and create toppings and fillings for three unique street tacos. The class runs from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $55 per person.
