Bryce Moyle had about as good of a day as a player could have at the plate and on the mound for the Carson High baseball team as the Senators finished off a sweep of two games in the Mike Bearman Invitation on Friday at Ron McNutt Field.

Moyle led CHS (3-0) to a 7-1 win over Central Catholic after Carson High came from behind with five runs in the fourth inning en route to a 10-5 win over Douglas.

Against Central Catholic, Moyle was 3-for-3 with 2 RBI, including an RBI double, capping off a day in which he had five hits and four RBI. On the mound, Moyle pitched six shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out 13.

Trevor Edis’ RBI double highlighted a two-run second inning that gave CHS a 2-0 lead. Abel Carter singled, Moyle followed with an RBI double and Jace Keema had an RBI single as the Senators extended their lead to 4-0 in the third. Luke Myers, Kahle Good and Moyle all singled during a 3-run fifth that gave CHS a 7-0 lead.

Cole McDannald allowed an unearned run in the seventh for CHS.

Against Douglas, Jesse Lopez led the Senators, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Carter, Moyle, and Keema all added two hits. Moyle drove in two runs as did Jared Barnard. Keema and Joe Tonino added an RBI each.

The game was tied 3-3 after three, but Douglas went up 4-3 with a single run in the top of the fourth, setting the stage for Carson’s game-winning surge.

Landon Truesdale tripled and scored on a single by Lopez to make it 5-4. Carter followed with a single, sending Lopez to third. Carter stole second, and Moyle followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 6-4. Carter scored on an error, and then Keema, Barnard and Tonino hit safely to close out the rally.

Douglas followed with a single run to make it 8-5, but Carson tallied twice on a double by Lopez, a hit batter, a run-scoring single by Moyle and a double play that scored one more.

Haden Keller went 3-for-4 for Douglas, while Isaiah Schat and Jayden Foster collected two hits each.

Dust Devils go 1-0-1

YERINGTON – Dayton opened the season with a win and tie at the Yerington Tournament.

Dayton and Yerington played to a 6-all tie, and then the Dust Devils thumped West Wendover 11-3.

Trevor Burrows went 2-for-3 with two RBI against Yerington, and Dylan Baker had a run-scoring single. Jesse Schmidt also contributed a single.

In the win over West Wendover, Baker went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a double, while Nick Hein had a double, triple and an RBI.

Cole Purdy picked up the pitching win.

Dayton plays Bishop and Hawthorne today.

SOFTBALL

CHS drops 2

Carson scored six runs in the first inning but saw Oakmont come back for an 8-7 win and the Senators also fell to Vanden 7-1 in the Del Campo Tournament

The Senators had nine hits in the loss. Bella Kordonowy went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Her two-run singled highlighted the six-run first for Carson.

Kailee Luschar, Kordonowy, and Kassidy Cooley each collected multiple hits for Carson.

The Senators took a 1-0 lead against Vanden on Jailene Salceido’s single in the first, but Vanden scored three runs in the second and four runs in the sixth.

Luschar went 3-for-4 for Carson.
