All sorts: There was a slight earthquake in Palisade. The farmers in Carson are in high feather over the way the season opens. Today is the fifth anniversary of the big snow slide that caused havoc in Genoa.

Photographer Dann took photos of the entire Assembly, Senate and attaches on the Capitol steps. He said the assembled lawmakers sized up in good looks with the average crowd, but he had to admit the bunch of female loveliness that gathered in front of his machine exceeded anything he had seen in seventeen states and several territories.

Modern machines: Official records in the state are to be preserved in the most modern manner if a bill introduced to the assembly is enacted into law. The bill appropriates $4,800 for microfilming devices that will photograph records that can be stored in a small fraction of space. It will also reduce the number of typists and stenographers required in retyping all records. The greatest use will be in office of John Koontz, Secretary of State.

Flag appears again: Nevada Commissioner for Veterans Affairs, Melvin L. Jacobsen, announced that Gold Star Flags are appearing in homes of families who have lost a son or husband in Viet Nam. The practice began in World War II when the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, Pa., decided to make flags available to encourage recognition of our honored dead in conflict.
