Churchill County CASA’s marked its second anniversary in 2016 by serving the community’s most severely abused and neglected children.
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate, and it’s the mission of THE program to advocate for the best interests of children involved in the courts, primarily those who are victims of abuse and neglect; CASA trains and support community volunteers who provide quality advocacy to help assure each child a safe, permanent and nurturing home.
With the help of the city of Fallon and generous community partners, CASA was able to ensure that children did not go without and that the CASA Kid’s Kloset was fully stocked throughout the year. The CASA Kid’s Kloset provides children’s clothing, shoes, personal hygiene items and school supplies that are necessary for their comfort, quality of life, safety and health. It is run entirely on the generous donations of the community. CASA would like to give a special thank you to the city for the donation of the space in the Old Post Office. Without this special space, the Kid’s Kloset would not be possible. Thank you from CASA.
Berney Realty and the Oasis Academy Middle School Student Council hosted their second annual holiday pajama drives this year. With their help, more than 100 children in need in the community received a new pair of PJs just in time for the holidays. CASA is grateful for your generosity and support. Those of us at CASA jump for joy at the thought of the happiness and excitement new jammies bring to children during this special time of year.
Carry Thibaut, owner of Functional Fitness and Court Appointed Special Advocate, hosted a special shoe drive. With the help of her gym members and fitness team, they donated 50 Payless Shoes gift cards to CASA and the Division of Child and Family Services to ensure every child in need of a new pair of shoes did not go without. CASA cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support of the CASA program.
