The Greenwave boys’ golf team is seeing a good start to the season, finishing in the top five of their most recent tournaments.

Fallon’s golfers played in Fernley, Dayton and Winnemucca last week. They won the Fernley tournament, took second in Dayton by five strokes and took third against Lowry.

Greenwave golf coach Richard Evans said the tournament in Winnemucca wasn’t the best, and the team may have just had a bad day.

The Greenwave had a team score of 451. For individual scores Raymond Plasse scored 88, Kelvin Cann 68, Chance Wood 91, Mike Richards 91, Jace Harmon 103 and Ethan Smith 104.

Evans said the team was doing well though. He said they’ve been working on their short game, improving chipping and putting during practice.

“Hopefully, their work will pay off in getting them ready for state,” he said.

The Greenwave boys’ golf team’s next tournament will be the Fallon Invitational at the Fallon Golf Course, April 2 and 3.
