Kay Winters, 96, still remembers the days when she was a Nevada rancher’s wife after she married JohnD Winters in 1948. The couple ranched in Carson City and Dayton until JohnD passed away in 2007.
Winters will share her story with the Historical Society of Dayton Valley Thursday, May 10, at the Dayton Valley Community Center, 170 Pike St., Dayton.
A meet and greet with refreshments will begin at 7 with the presentation following at 7:30 p.m.
The program is the second of four historical lectures the Historical Society is sponsoring in May to celebrate Nevada Historical Preservation and Archaeology Awareness Month.
Additionally, the Dayton Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends through May. After this month it will only be open weekends for the rest of the season.
The Historical Society is a nonprofit operated by volunteers and dedicated to preserving Dayton history.
