Dayton State Park is the site of a history lecture about the Carson River.
The Carson River flows through two states, six counties and several communities before it ends in a “sink” east of Fallon. It is one of few terminal rivers, meaning that it will never reach the ocean.
Other informative tidbits about the river will be on hand at a history trunk discussion, led by River Wrangler Linda Conlin, from 2 to 3 p.m. May 21 at Dayton State Park.
The Carson River history trunk contains historical items, examples of local plants and animals, maps and photographs. Participants will take a short walk along the river and hear about the successes and challenges of preserving this natural resource.
The event is free after the park’s entrance fee of $7 per vehicle. There is a $2 discount for Nevada residents. Cash or checks only.
