The Nevada Appeal’s Silver Dollars & Wooden Nickels feature recognizes achievements from the capital region and, when warranted, points out other acts that missed the mark.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Advocates for Domestic Violence for the groundbreaking of the Classy Seconds Store new location at 3591 Gordon St. off Highway 50. Along with an expanded Classy Seconds Store, Advocates for Domestic Violence plans to build two more buildings on the property and to house its officers there.
SILVER DOLLAR: To The Food Bank of Northern Nevada and the National Association of Letter Carriers for their work in holding the 25th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday and to all those who donated.
SILVER DOLLAR: Congratulations to the Western Nevada College Theatre Company which presented its 100th show this weekend, “Nice Work If You Can Get It.”
