CCSD to discuss budget, tech, recognitions

The Churchill County School District Board of Trustees will meet today at 6 p.m. in the Old High School auditorium (“The Pit”).

The board will recognize additional 2017 school district retirees as well as Cyndi Lipnicki, Jennifer Blosser and Sheila Washington for their dedication as parent involvement coordinators for the district. The board will also recognize Churchill County High School teacher Steve Johnson for being selected as the VFW National Teacher of the Year.

The board will also discuss and take possible action regarding the following:

Report regarding the Blended Learning Program successes and management of district-wide Chromebooks.

Report on the state of technology in the district, presented by Dan Slentz, Oasis Online owner.

Revisit the board’s budget priorities with the potential to approve an increase in site budgets, a Churchill County Middle School dean and a CCHS dean.

Public hearing on the fiscal year 2017-2018 final budget, including the board will discuss and take action to approve the budget as well as revise, add or delete any line item in the proposed budget.

In closed session, discussion of negotiations and strategies regarding the Churchill County Administrators’ Association, Churchill County Education Association, and the Nevada Classified School Employees Association. Also discussion of negotiations regarding contracts with the secretary to the superintendent/board of trustees and the human resource analysts.
