Laughter so hearty it may unburden tear ducts is awaiting at Comma Coffee where David Lee is bringing his poetry and humor on Saturday.
Lee will be joined by musicians offering 14 classic American songs at his performance at 7:30 p.m. at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St., Carson City.
Lee, Utah’s first poet laureate, brings a dash or more of mischievousness to some of his poems, many of which center on growing up in the Texas panhandle.
Lee not only was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, he also was one of the two finalists in 2001 for Poet Laureate of the United States and has received the Utah Governor’s Award for lifetime achievement in the arts. He has published 20 books of poetry.
Songstress June Joplin will be accompanied by Bob Reid, pianist, Tim Goldsmith, bassist, and Neil Strocchio on drums.
Admission is $5 per person.
