Bealls in the Carson Mall is closing its doors on June 24 and has started a going out of business sale, according to Bria Lundy, director of public relations at Stage Stores, Bealls Houston-based owner.
Lundy, though, said the news only affects Carson City.
“At this time, there are no plans to close the Fallon store,” she said. “Unfortunately, the tough decision was made to close the store in Carson City as part of our strategic initiative to maintain stores in communities where we have growth opportunity.
The Carson store employs 12 or 13 workers, who will receive job placement assistance from the company, she said.
Bealls opened in Carson City in 2014, the same year as Fallon, and is located in about 25,000 square feet of what was once Gottschalks department store.
Bealls is next door to Sportsman Warehouse, which also opened in 2014 and takes up the remaining 40,000 square feet of the former Gottschalks.
Stage Stores website says it has more than 820 stores in 38 states. In 2015, the company had sales of $1.6 billion.
