David Barlow Pearson, “DOC” passed away peacefully in Fallon, Nevada on October 25, 2017.
Born to Russell and Betty Pearson in San Francisco, CA, he graduated from Lower Lake High School in 1962. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army were he dedicated 20 years of honorable service to our country.
In February of 1966 he married Sharon Ann McMillan. David and Sharon were married until her passing in 1989. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Cathy and Tammy, traveling as a military family until his retirement from the Army.
In 1983 the Pearson family moved to Lake County where David entered his second career as an educator and administrator. He taught drivers education, business math and automotive at Lower Lake High School before becoming Vice Principal. During his career he continued to advance his education by earning his Master’s in Education from St. Mary’s University and wanted to begin working towards his PhD.
In the 90’s David met and married Terri Ditmars and along with her two sons, Jimmy and Ben, became actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America. Dave swore “the only camping I will ever do is the 5th floor of the Hilton” but soon wound up working at Camp Silverado, first as the Medic and then as the maintenance director for many summers. Camp is where Dave earned the nickname “DOC” as he could fix anything and was always “On Call”.
Dave left California to work in Nevada as an administrator and while there joined Elks Lodge #2239 becoming the Exalted Ruler from 2001-2002. He also spent time enjoying rides on his Harley trike with his friends from Nevada and Oregon.
David is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Betty; the love of his life wife Sharon; and his sisters Diane and Judy.
He is survived by Terri Pearson; brother Russell Pearson; sisters Linda Pearson and Laurie (John) Arnn; daughters Cathy (Rich) Mathias, and Tammy (Dexter Jr) Serpa; his grandchildren Stephanie Mathias, Steven (Halie) Mathias, Bailey Serpa, Madison Serpa; great grandchildren Brayden & Jax Mathias; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
During his life David was many things. He was a son, brother, husband, father, racecar driver, race official, soldier, recruiter, educator, administrator, leader and will be missed tremendously.
He will be laid to rest at the Lower Lake Cemetery, 9040 Lake St., Lake County, CA on November 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Military honors will be rendered by the US Army under that auspice of the Lake County Funeral Honors Team.
