A Fallon man has been charged with attempted murder after a weekend shooting.

Churchill County Sheriff Ben Trotter said Matthew Marcelli, 25, allegedly shot Christina Gonzalez, 48, also of Fallon, Sunday night at about 6:10 p.m. at 2200 block of Silas Street, which is off Thornbird Drive. After the shooting, Trotter said the suspect left the residence.

“The Sheriff’s Office, Fallon Police Department and Tribal Police Department all worked together searching for Marcelli,” Trotter said in a statement. “He was contacted by telephone and agreed to return to the scene where he was taken into custody.”

Trotter said Marcelli is being held on $1 million bail. He was scheduled to appear in Justice Court on Tuesday.

Banner Churchill paramedics transported Gonzales to the hospital where she was reported in stable condition.
