I am thankful for Thanksgiving

Watson here and it’s that time of year again when my mom is busy cooking up an incredible feast. Thanksgiving will be over when this is published, but it only seems right to mention the best holiday of the year. I love turkey and gravy, and sometimes I get a homemade roll.

It has been six years since I was adopted from CAPS, and I must say these have been the best years of my life. I don’t know why I was dropped off at the pound, but thanks to CAPS I was given a second chance to be the dog of my family’s dream.

I’m a regular fitness trainer because I wake up my dad and mom early, and I take them for a walk every day. I help with watching their weight too. I eat all the vegetables my dad doesn’t like (don’t mention this to the mom), and I’m always ready to share dessert.

I want you to know that I love CAPS and everyone who strives to make life better for those of us who are abandoned, misunderstood or rejected. It sounds corny, but we need love and really want to be accepted and understood. I have met so many friends at the dog park who are rescues. Sometimes we talk about rescuing, and it seems we rescued our moms and dads too. I know a lot of the folks feel rescued by their animals.

Thanksgiving is the one time of the year we have to be grateful and thankful for everything our life provides. It is with joy and gratefulness that I thank CAPS and everyone who advocates for us.

Shannon Miller, the owner of Maggie’s Playhouse. She has made it her goal to take care of older dogs. She has adopted many old pups who have been abandoned by their owners. What a great service she has performed for our elder dogs. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month and we salute Shannon for her kindness and dedication to our dog population.

CAPS will be at Walmart on Dec. 16 with the Kissin’ Booth and a puckered-up pooch. Come by to get your pooch smooch. Christmas is coming and we have caps, shirts, and mugs so be sure to check out the merchandise after you have loved on our pup.

Flower Tree Nursery will be raffling a 20-gallon blue spruce tree on Dec. 16, and the winner doesn’t have to be present to win. The raffle tickets are available at Flower Tree, and they are $1 for one ticket and $5 for six tickets.
