Carson City students preparing for Friday’s Silver & Snowflake event

Fifth graders from all six public elementary schools as well as Carson Montessori and Saint Teresa’s will perform as a unified holiday choir for the 29th annual Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights on the Capitol steps in downtown Carson City on Friday.

The students have been practicing the musical arrangements since the end of October.

The festival will kick off with free sleigh rides from 4:30 to 7 p.m. by the Lake Tahoe-based Borges Sleigh Rides and its team of draft horses courtesy of Carson City Redevelopment.

A holiday market will be at McFadden Plaza from 5 to 7 p.m.

The annual tree lighting ceremony featuring the Carson City Fifth Grade Music Students Singing Ensemble will be at 5:30 p.m.

From 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Sierra Lutheran High School Choir and Carson High Chamber Choir will be caroling in the downtown restaurants. 

McFadden Plaza’s “Santa Stage” will feature the Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers at 6:30 p.m.
