Calling all Northern Nevadans with a love of cantaloupe and anyone who enjoys beautiful summer days in the country.
Make your way to the Churchill County Fairgrounds the last weekend of August for the annual Fallon Cantaloupe Festival & Country Fair.
Enjoy a variety of cantaloupe goodies at Fallon’s four-day tribute to its most prized specialty crop, including Troy’s famous cantaloupe daiquiris, cantaloupe beer from Great Basin Brewing Company, cantaloupe ice cream, and more.
Visit more than 70 food and shopping vendors for unique items and delicious fair food. The festival will also have an area dedicated to taking a break and cooling down — find a nice shady place to sit and enjoy yourself in the Relaxation Tent.
Back for the second year is the two-night concert series in the main arena, and guests won’t be disappointed. Rock n’ roll lovers out there mark your calendars, Noise Pollution, the ultimate AC/DC experience, is going to rock the house on Aug. 24 with opening act Metal Echo.
The Country Artists Tribute is back with George Strait, Eric Church, and Taylor Swift impersonators on Aug. 25. Pre-purchase weekend passes for $12 to get access to both nights of concerts.
There will be multiple shows on the small stage throughout each day, featuring Sam Malcolm the juggling comedian, magician Dennis Kyriakos, ventriloquist Steve Chaney, plus other fun demonstrations and exhibitions.
Also, look for some atypical activities to Fallon, the Discovering Science tent and the NASCAR experience, featuring a 1/4 mile race simulator and demo car.
Additional activities include Kent’s Cornhole Classic on Aug. 25, a greased pig chase, and other fun country fair games including a prize wheel with donations from local businesses.
Schoeppner Shows Carnival will be open each day with 14 rides and a midway — plan to take advantage of dollar ride night and half price gate admission on Thursday for a night of budget-friendly family fun.
Bring the kids for a day of fun and interactive learning with agriculture education displays from the Churchill County Farm Bureau, Churchill County 4-H, Churchill County FFA, local beekeepers, Truckee-Carson Irrigation District, the Nevada Department of Ag, Churchill County Museum, and more. Don’t miss the opportunity to cuddle cows, chicken, goats, donkeys, and all other types of livestock animals.
Pre-purchase weekend passes now to save $3 per ticket. Weekend passes are $12 for ages 11 and up, $3 for children ages 3-10, and admission is free for children under 3 years of age; weekend passes are good for all four days of the event, plus both nights of concerts. Day admission at the gate is $8 for ages 11 and up and $2 for children ages 3-10; weekend passes at the gate are $15 for ages 11 and up and $6 for children ages 3-10.
