Real country coming to Oats Park later this month

The second free In-the-Park at Oats Park’s Centennial Stage is around the corner.

Tris Munsick and the Innocents, formed six years and based out of Sheridan, Wyoming, play dance music and cover a wide variety of songs ranging from barroom standards to more edgy original works.

They will perform as part of the annual community wide reunion on Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for sale, or music lovers may bring their lawn chairs and coolers and then sit back under the August sky and listed to Tris Munsick and the Innocents. After the concert (about 9 p.m.), stop in at the Arts Bar and checkout the latest exhibits.

If real country is what you’re looking for, you’ve come to the right place. Their show is designed to keep people dancing, drinking, and having an overall good time from downbeat to last call.

Band members consist of Munsick (guitar, lead vocal), Daniel Ball (lead guitar, vocal), Tom Lulias (steel guitar), Nick Lulias (bass), and Ryan Bell (drums).

Munsick was raised in a family of musicians. The eldest son of regionally esteemed musician/cowboy Dave Munsick, Tris has grown up with country music running through his veins. For the last few years, he has performed throughout the West with his family band The Munsick Boys. Along with The Munsick Boys and The Innocents, he has opened for and performed alongside Lyle Lovett, Gary P. Nunn, Suzy Bogguss, Micky and the Motorcars, Blackhawk, Michael Peterson and more. Although The Munsick Boys are still performing regularly, Tris has decided to expand his horizons and is putting his lifeblood into a new project.

The band’s debut album, “Last Time I Leave,” hit No. 19 on the iTunes New Music Charts and was NPR’s runner-up 2014 Wyoming Album of the Year.

Reunion activities around the city and at Oats Park begin Aug. 17 with a Farmers Market and gathering at the Fallon Theatre, while Aug. 18, kicks off with a breakfast at the William N. Pennington Life Center followed by a Show-n-Shine Car Show and Antique Tractors, an open swim and class reunions.

Tours and activities planned for the day include the museum, Fallon Theatre, the Old High School, library, the fire department, the Douglass House, the Old Post Office, Cottage Schools and a chat with Mayor Ken Tedford at the Fallon City Hall.

A Sunday breakfast is slated for the William N. Pennington Life Center.
