The Carson City Council of the Navy League of the United States will hold this quarter’s dinner and meeting on Aug. 15 at the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino in Carson City.
The social hour will start at 5:30 and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Captain Robert Rahal, Medical Corps, United States Navy, Retired. Captain Rahal enlisted in the Navy in 1975 and rose in the ranks to Chief Petty Officer. He was selected for the Officer Corps and was commissioned as an Officer in the Medical Corps in 1987 and retired from the Navy in 2014. He has been associated with Navy Medicine since he was assigned to the USS Coral Sea after boot camp. He continued in the Medical Service after being commissioned as an Ensign, serving a wide variety of duty stations which include: Navy Hospitals in the United States and overseas; deployments to Kuwait, Iraq, and Bahrain; WESTPAC on USS New Orleans; Officer in Charge of Branch Health Clinic on Diego Garcia; as well as tours at the Navy Bureau of Medicine and National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. The Navy League of the United States was founded in 1902 and is a civilian organization with more than 50,000 members dedicated to educating American citizens and elected officials about the importance of sea power to U.S. national security and supporting the men and women of the sea services and their families. The Carson City Council is the local branch of the Navy League of the United States. We meet on quarterly basis, conducting a dinner meeting with informational speakers that talk about a wide range of topics and the Sea Services’ missions.
The Carson City Council sponsors recognition programs and provides scholarships for Navy and Marine personnel at Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center near Bridgeport, CA, NAS Fallon, and the Northern Nevada Navy Recruiting office, as well as, for the Carson High Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Command.
