Cann wins Fernley tourney in Fallon’s 5th-place effort

Senior Kelvin Cann won the Fernley tournament with a 75 to lead the Greenwave boys golf team to a fifth-place finish.

Fallon finished with a team score of 363 as Spring Creek won the event, its second of the year, with a 324, behind Daniel Mahkle, who finished second behind Cann with a 76.

Senior Chance Wood finished with an 88 followed by Jace Harmon’s 97 and Josh Evans’ 103 to round out the top four for the Greenwave. Only the top four scorers are calculated into the overall team score. Josaiah Rosario also finished with a 148.

The Greenwave finished sixth in Monday’s Dayton tournament with an overall score of 390 as Spring Creek won the event with a 351.

Cann led Fallon with an 83, which was third-best among the 3A Northern schools, and Spring Creek’s Mahlke was the low medalist with a score of 79 followed by South Tahoe’s Dalton Drum at 82.

Wood had the Fallon’s second-best score and fourth overall as he shot an 86. Harmon finished with a 100 followed by Evans’ 121 as the top four scores were totaled for the overall team score. Nick Springfield finished with a 154 and Rosario had a 159.
