Fallon will be the first stop for second-year Nevada football coach Jay Norvell who will be traveling around both the northern and southern sections of the Silver State as part of four Wolf Pack Caravans occurring in May.
The first caravan comes to the Old Post Office on North Maine Street on Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. The cost is free and doors open at 5:30 p.m. Norvell will meet with fans, discuss the Wolf Pack’s 2018 outlook as he and the team head into year two of his tenure, and talk about his new staff members and student-athletes during the caravans.
He will be joined, as schedules permit, by other Wolf Pack coaches.
Jay Norvell was hired as the Wolf Pack’s 26th head football coach on Dec. 9, 2016. This marked the first head coaching tenure for Norvell, but he brought a 31-year coaching career that spans college football’s top levels and the National Football League. He coached in both the BCS National Championship Game with the Oklahoma Sooners and Super Bowl XXXVII with the Oakland Raiders.
“He is highly respected for his knowledge of the game and ability to teach his players. He has incredible relationships and an army of friends in high school, college and professional football,” said Nevada athletics director Doug Knuth after the university hired Norvell. “Coach Norvell is known for his passion and love for his players. He will set a very high standard for excellence and work tirelessly to achieve our goals academically and athletically. I am excited to watch Coach Norvell build Wolf Pack football into a championship program.”
Norvell’s resume includes coaching stints at Iowa, Northern Iowa, Wisconsin, Iowa State, the Indianapolis Colts, the Oakland Raiders, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, UCLA, and before Nevada, Arizona State.
After the Fallon stop Norvell will then travel down to Las Vegas on May 12 to meet with Wolf Pack fans on the UNLV campus. Join Coach Norvell for a pregame tailgate at noon before the Wolf Pack baseball team plays the Rebels at 2 p.m.
Norvell returns to Northern Nevada for a caravan at the Carson Valley Inn on May 15 from 6-7 p.m., and the final Wolf Pack Caravan is May 18 at Somersett Country Club.
