The Popcorn Stand: Balancing act — I’ll skip his body of work for these records

Those who choose to read this Popcorn Stand know my continued fascination with weird world records so I was like a kid in a candy story when Guinness World Records just released its 2019 edition.

And the records run the gamut from hideous to cool too, of course, I’m amazed what the human mind comes up with.

In the hideous category is Germany’s Rolf Bucholz, who holds the world record for most body modifications, a whopping 516. There’s no other way of putting it, the dude looks like a gargoyle.

In the cute and cool category, this is one record I think I could actually go after — and attain.

Jessica, a terrier, and her human, Rachael Grylls, hold the record for most times skipped over a single rope together in one minute at 59.

I really think Tuf Tuf (you know Sir Tuffington something or other) the Jack Russell and I could go after this record. Pete the Shih Tzu, though, I know wouldn’t be interested.

And while I know Tuf Tuf can jump high, he can’t jump this high. Feather holds the record for the highest jump by a dog at 75.5 inches.

When it comes to balancing acts there was a cat that balanced nine dice on his paw and somebody balanced a guitar on their nose for 7 minutes, 3.9 seconds.

But they don’t come close to the dude who controlled a soccer ball with his feet for 93 seconds — while lying on his back on a moving car.

Another timely record comes for a guy who made 78 sausages in one minute.

Other numerical records I don’t understand but are actually pretty cool include a woman who was able to spin 59 hula hoops simultaneously; a man who skated 50 meters in 8.55 seconds — on his hands; and a woman who bounced 100 meters on a space hopper in 38.22 seconds.

According to Guinness the world’s oldest trapeze artist is 85 and the world’s oldest DJ is 83.

Anyway, look out Jessica and Rachel. Tuf Tuf and I are coming after you.
