WNC’s community education continues at Fallon campus

With the goal of enriching the cultural, social, and recreational life of the Fallon area, Western Nevada College is offering the following classes through its Community Education Division:

Beginning Scale Model Building: A-10 Warthog — 3:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 10-14. Learn the basics of how to build scale models while building an A-10 Warhog. Cost: $35 plus $25 supply fee payable to the instructor first day of class.

Golf — 5:15-6:15 p.m. Tues. Sept. 12-Oct. 17. Whether you are new to the game or have been playing for years this class is ideal for all skill levels. Cost: $100.

Western Dance — 6:15-8 p.m. Wed. Sept. 12-Nov. 14. Learn how to two-step, country swing, country waltz, and several other dance moves. Singles and couples are welcome. Cost: $96.

Self-Defense — 6-9 p.m. Sept. 17. Improve your awareness, build your confidence, and increase your knowledge of how to defend yourself. Cost: $50.

Kids Clay and Crafts — 4-5:30 p.m. Tues. and Thurs. Sept. 18-Oct. 25. Kids will learn about working with clay, hand build gifts for family and friends, craft projects using different mediums, and socialize with a great group of students. Cost: $40, $10 supply fee payable to the instructor first day of class.

Eating Healthy on a Budget — 6-7:30 p.m. Tues. Sept. 18-25. Students will discover how to read food labels, and how to shop for and plan healthful meals without breaking the bank. Cost: $35.

Drawing from Life — 5-9 p.m. Sept. 19. We will focus on still life & drawing from nature, & try out different techniques and materials. Cost: $30.

East Coast Swing — 7:30-8:30 p.m. Thurs. Sept. 20-Oct. 25. Join us as we travel back to the 1940s and explore one of the most popular, exciting, and easy-to-learn dances in the US—East Coast Swing. No partner or previous experience necessary. Cost: $50.

Beginning Spanish — 6-7 p.m. Thurs. Sept. 20-Oct. 25. Learn the fundamentals of Spanish from a native speaker. Cost: $75.

Dive Into Watercolor — 1-5 p.m. Sept. 22 & 23. Students will learn a fun technique to paint fall leaves or a fall landscape scene. Cost: $80, plus $10 supply fee payable to the instructor.

Meteorology 101 — 7-9 p.m. Sept. 24. Discover what exactly the weather man is talking about in this engaging class. Cost: $45.

The goal of the Community Education Division is to respond to community needs for lifelong learning opportunities. The program is self-supporting and doesn’t receive state funds to sponsor its classes and workshops. The events are funded entirely by student fees. Classes are offered for no credit and with no final grade assigned.
