The corner of William and Roop streets will be the place to be on Saturday.
The second annual Community Garage Sale will be held in the Carson City Community Center’s east parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Forty-one participants will be on hand selling their wares, everything from books to bed frames, clothing to cookware.
“If you’re looking for garage sales this weekend, this will be the place to check out and the convenience of having all these garage sales in one location can’t be beat,” said Dan Earp, recreation superintendent, Parks, Recreation & Open Space.
The event, organized by Parks & Rec, is already sold out and will feature 13 more sellers than last year. Participants can donate unsold goods to the Carson Senior Center, which will be by when the sale ends to pick up items.
Parks & Rec, along with The WheelHouse Skate Shop, will be hosting the second annual Skateboard & Scooter Competition in Mills Park skate park starting at 10 a.m.
The event is a freestyle competition for beginners, intermediate and advanced, judged by skating pros. Prizes are awarded to each category winner. The cost is $7, best trick competition is $3.
Last year, about 100 kids, aged 8 and older, took part.
The outdoor pool at the Carson Aquatic Facility will go to the dogs when Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) holds it annual Pooch Plunge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dogs will be able to dive in the pool, swim and play. Owners pay $10 for the first dog and $6 for each additional dog. The first hour is set aside for small dogs only and then from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the pool is open to dogs of any size.
The event raises money for CASI’s Critter Fixer program, which provides assistance for low-income pet owners to spay and neuter their dogs and cats.
