The Fox Brewpub will host its second annual Oktoberfest with live music, traditional German food and beer and a stein-holding contest Sept. 29, from 3-10 p.m. at 310 S. Carson St. in Carson City.
“We brought the excitement of this event to the Fox last year and it was such a fun event that we’ve decided to make it a tradition,” said Jim Phalan, owner of the Fox Brewpub. “Not only do we offer great food, beer and music, but we have the most incredible location with McFadden Plaza which brings the party outdoors.”
The 10-year old English-style restaurant and community staple will have three beer tents, a full bar serving Bavarian and German beers, traditional German food, a DJ, live music by the Rhine River Stompers and an authentic 1-liter German stein-holding contest where the winner wins the stein. The brewpub’s regular menu and beers, including nine beers brewed in-house, will be available too.
“This is a great event for the entire family and an opportunity to try traditional German food and drinks,” Phalan said. “We’ll have Schweinebraten, which is roasted pork loin cooked in a dark beer with onions and mustards, served with house made Kraut, Würst, which is German sausage cooked in beer served with bacon kraut and dark mustard sauce and of course Brezen, German-style pretzels served with our Naughty Boo Boo beer cheese.”
The Fox has had other reasons to rejoice this year, including celebrating 10 years in business, completing a custom brewing installation, brewing its own beers and hiring a new brew master and head chef.
“We’ve had so many positive changes this year,” Phalan said. “Oktoberfest will be a great way to round out our achievements and successes.”
