The Carson City division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps recently launched the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation. The Sea Cadets are to honor those who have bravely served this country by placing a flower by the headstone of a fallen hero over Memorial Day weekend.

Last year, more than 1,300 volunteers placed 210,000 flowers at Arlington National Cemetery and another 200,000 flowers at 40 other cemeteries.

This year, the Sea Cadets’ goal is to honor all 1,700 veterans who are interred at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City. The Sea Cadets want a flower placed for each of the 1,700 veterans.

A $15 donation covers a dozen roses of which $5 goes back to the Carson City Sea Cadets. For information visit https://seacadets.networkforgood.com/projects/71571-honoring-our-nation-s-heroes-carson-city-division.
