On April 16, Carson City Republican Women held their monthly meeting at Casino Fandango. The highlight of the meeting was twofold.

First we heard from five senior high school students who were selected to vie for a $2,000 scholarship. The applicants, Gracie Woodward, Crystal Vargas, Jessica Taylor, Alyssa Rowe and Sophia Cacioppo, are remarkable young women with great potential, enthusiasm and specific goals in mind. The winner, Crystal Vargas, will receive her scholarship at our May 18 luncheon to be held in the Nevada Room at the Governor’s Mansion.

The second highlight of the meeting was hearing from Miranda Hoover, a leader in the Nevada College Young Republicans. Her talk regarding failure as a part of success was right on target and appropriate for these young women to hear.

Thank you to Sylvia Divita, scholarship chairwoman, and her committee for doing an outstanding job, to our 1st Vice President Sheri LeTourneau for inviting Miranda to speak at our meeting and for Miranda for being the great young Republican representative and role model she is.
