Gov. Steve Sisolak has ordered a snow day for state workers in Carson City, sending all non-essential state workers home for the rest of the day.
The order was issued effective at 1:30 p.m. But by 3 p.m., he had expanded the order to send Reno, Washoe and Douglas County workers home as well.
Sisolak said public safety and corrections personnel will remain on the job.
He said his office, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions.
The shut down was ordered because of the continued snowfall in the capital making road conditions unsafe.
