I’ve written this time and time again, I’ll use any excuse I can to include my two dogs Pete the Shih Tzu and Tuf Tuf (you know Sir Tuffington Something or Other) the Jack Russell in this column.
So, of course, with this week’s Westminster Dog Show going on, that gave me the perfect excuse to write about my two little guys. And of course I’ve also written before Tuf Tuf is a pure bred, hence the name Sir Tuffington. (I’ve got to find the card with the rest of his full name on it).
Tuf Tuf, though, doesn’t seem to care he once could have been a show dog. As I’ve written before I mean it doesn’t look like he’s walking around thinking to himself “I could have been a contender, I could have been somebody.” Which gives me an idea for a movie: “On the Westminster Front.”
I know Pete could care less. Pete is like, well, you know Jeff Dunham the comedian and his dummy Walter? I think if Pete could talk, he would sound like Walter. You know like an old fuddy duddy.
Anyway as those of you who choose to read this Popcorn Stand, I absolutely love dogs and I absolutely love the Westminster Dog Show. I also loved watching the Westminster Master Agility Contest in which the dogs speed through an obstacle course.
The eight-inch competition for the little guys was really cute to watch. And it was really, really cool to see when the overall winner, Verb the border collie, jump into his master’s arms after finishing the course. Verb was the appropriate name for the winning dog because the competition was full of action.
So when it comes to this week and everything involving Westminster, it truly is the Top Dog for me.
