The Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection is seeking applicants for the family court judgeship vacated by the resignation of David Humke.

The post is open to Nevada lawyers with 10 years experience and two years of Nevada residency. Applications can be found online at http://nvcourts.link/NVJudicialSelection.

Those interested must apply by 5 p.m., March 8 at the Nevada Supreme Court in Carson City.

Interviews are set for April 16-17 in Carson City. After interviews are complete, the commission will nominate three finalists to Gov. Steve Sisolak who will make the final decision.

The appointee will serve until the next general election at which time he or she must run for election to the office.

Humke resigned the post after being suspended for mishandling child support and custody cases. An investigation reported he had processed only a tenth of the 700 cases each of the other family court departments had handled.
