Leading Nevada Democrats say affordable health care and better schools are among their 2019 legislative priorities.

The Democrats revealed the policy themes on Monday, the start of the fourth week in the legislative session. More than 450 bills have been introduced since the beginning of the session. The Democrats health care priorities include protecting people with pre-existing conditions, lowering prescription drug prices and expanding healthcare access for women.

Education priorities include reducing class sizes, providing teachers with a pay raise and updating the state’s funding formula for schools.

Democrats hold a government trifecta in Nevada, with a super majority in the Assembly and a majority in the state Senate.

Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson says they believe the agenda will move Nevada “in a more prosperous direction.”
