The Democratic Men’s Committee of Carson City will host a Black History Celebration on Wednesday in the banquet room of La Santaneca pupuseria, 316 E Winnie Lane, near San Marcos Grill in Carson City.
This event is purely educational and celebratory, not political. Jo Etta Brown will provide an overview of Nevada’s black history, including some little-known facts about notable African Americans in the Silver State’s storied past. That talk will complement presentation of the Men’s Committee’s Golden Bow Tie Award saluting Attorney General Aaron Ford’s lifetime of achievement as a father, lawyer, distinguished lawmaker and Nevada’s first-ever African American constitutional office holder.
Doors open at 4 p.m. The $10 admission charge includes a Salvadorian buffet and cold drinks.
