RENO — A suspended family court judge in Reno is resigning under an agreement with a state oversight board and will be barred from ever holding any judicial office.

Washoe County Family Court Judge David Humke admits in a Monday filing with the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline that he lacks the knowledge and ability to handle legal and administrative duties of a judge.

Humke did not immediately respond Wednesday to an email from The Associated Press.

The Reno Gazette Journal reports that Humke was suspended more than once during his more than three years on the bench. He is a former Republican Washoe County commissioner.

He was found to have mishandled child support and custody cases and to have only processed a fraction of the number of cases of other judges.
