"On the Comstock Trail" represents some of the routes watercolor artist Emily Silver has explored in Northern Nevada. Silver's exhibit is on display at the Western Nevada College Fallon Gallery through Feb. 28.
The WNC Fallon Gallery welcomes Emily Silver and her watercolor paintings in an exhibit in the month of February.
“My painting’s obvious exploitation of the material qualities of watercolor and manipulation of the horizon challenge viewers to rethink and expand their concepts of landscape,” she said.
The result is an art collection influenced by maps and routes Emily has walked and accentuated by her background in geology and affinity for the desert.
Silver received her bachelor of arts degree at Stanford University and her master of fine arts at San Francisco Art Institute. She has spent time traveling and painting in Nevada.
In Fallon, she is best remembered for doing a residency for Churchill Arts Council, where she generously shared her talents in the public schools. Her influence from the art taught to the children in Churchill County remains.
In Nevada, Silver had solo exhibits in Virginia City, Eureka, Fallon, Elko, Carson City, Reno, South Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas.
Silver’s exhibit will remain through Feb. 28. An opening and reception will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the WNC Fallon Gallery at 160 Campus Way in Fallon. The public is invited to come meet the artist and peruse her art.
