Dancers, drummers and dragons will be on display as the Nevada State Museum and Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada team up Feb. 9 to ring in the Chinese New Year and celebrate Chinese culture.
The event, which starts at 10 a.m., with Chinese dance demonstrations and crafts in the Dema Guinn Concourse at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St., includes the traditional lion dance, followed by a short parade from the museum Concourse to the Children’s Museum at 11 a.m.
Festivities will continue at the children’s museum and include the Chinese New Year-inspired crafts for kids, a Chinese dance demonstration at 11:30 a.m. and a performance of the Reno Taiko Drummers at 1 p.m.
Activities at the Nevada State Museum are free. Admission to the festivities at the Children’s Museum are free for museum members, $6 for adults and $4 for children 2 and older.
