Returning for the 2019 season, the V&T Railway’s popular Toast of the Canyon train rides kicks off June 15 and will feature area wineries, distilleries and breweries.

The event, which runs every other Saturday through October, takes passengers into the Carson River Canyon to enjoy libations and appetizers. For information or to purchase tickets, visit www.vtrailway.com.

“Our Toast of the Canyon trains provide passengers a unique opportunity to experience a piece of Nevada history while enjoying some of the area’s best libations,” said Elaine Barkdull-Spencer, general manager for V&T Railway. “This year, we wanted to expand past wine and incorporate the amazing beers and spirits produced in our area to feature local breweries and distilleries in addition to popular regional wineries and appetizers from local restaurants.”

The 45-minute, two-and-a-half mile train ride will take passengers past several historic and scenic locations in the Carson River Canyon. On the return trip, passengers will have an opportunity to take pictures of the ‘Iron Horse’ as it reattaches itself to the cars for the journey back and hear the echo of the whistle as it bounces off the canyon walls.

Trains depart Carson City’s Eastgate Depot at 5 p.m. and will embark on a 45-minute journey with libations and appetizers for guests 21 and up. Tickets can be purchased online for $35 at www.vtrailway.com or 877-724-5007. The Carson City passenger station is located approximately seven miles east of Carson City at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road.
