RENO — The Nevada football team’s season opener against Purdue has been moved to Aug. 30, according to a media release.

The matchup had previously been announced for Aug. 31 but has now moved up a day entering the Labor Day weekend. Kickoff time and television coverage will be announced at a later date.

The game is the second of a “home-and-home” deal that saw Nevada visit West Lafayette, Ind. in 2016. Purdue will be just the second Big Ten team to visit Mackay Stadium. The first was Northwestern in 2006, and Nevada scored a 31-21 victory over the Wildcats.

The 2019 season will be the third year under head coach Jay Norvell, who guided the Wolf Pack to one of the best turnarounds in the nation last season, and one of the best seasons in recent Nevada history. The Wolf Pack rolled to an eight-win season and capped it with a thrilling overtime victory in the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, just the sixth bowl victory in school history.

Season ticket deposits for the 2019 season are available for $50 by calling 775-348-PACK or visiting NevadaWolfPack.com.

The 2019 season kicks off with the game against Purdue. The home schedule also includes a visit from former Big Sky rival Weber State and conference games against Hawaii, San José State, New Mexico and UNLV.

Spring dates have been set for the Nevada football team and the annual Silver and Blue Spring Game will have a new feature in 2019 — the Grit Run, a 5K race on campus to raise money for the fight against cystic fibrosis.

The Grit Run and the Silver and Blue Spring Game are set for April 27 on campus. The 5K run/walk will begin in front of the Joe Crowley Student Union on campus at 10:30 a.m. The cost for the race is $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and younger, with all proceeds donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The race course will take runners through the University campus and back to Mackay Stadium to finish with a lap around the track. All participants will receive a T-shirt and post-race refreshments, with on-course hydration stations, a bounce house for children, and other spring game activities provided as well. Registration is available now at NevadaWolfPack.com/GritRun.

Nevada also has scheduled the football team’s annual Women’s Clinic, set for Aug. 3 on campus.

The clinic will include drinks and appetizers, a raffle, an auction, and gameday drills run by the Nevada coaching staff. To donate to the raffle, contact Cindy Breeden at cindybreeden@unr.edu.

Space for the event is limited to 250 tickets, priced at $75 per individual. Must be 21 years or older to register.

Each ticket purchased directly helps the Nevada football program with purchasing meals and practice equipment for student-athletes. For more information, call 775-784-6891.
