Sheriff Dan Coverley invites the community to visit with the men and women of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and other local entities from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at 1038 Buckeye Road in Minden when the DCSO Main Station will be open to the public.
The event will give citizens an opportunity to tour the station, including a guided tour. There will be demonstrations and displays for the family to enjoy. Citizens will have an opportunity to view specialized equipment used by DCSO staff and see other gear and vehicles from SWAT, the Crisis Negotiation Team, the Emergency Communications Center Mobile Command Post, patrol vehicles with computer aided dispatch terminals, K9 demonstrations and more.
Other organizations supporting the sheriff’s office will be present, including Tahoe Douglas and East Fork Fire and paramedic units, CARE Flight, CERT, Nevada Highway Patrol, Washoe Tribal Police and there will be an autism recognition alert signup. The event begins with a presentation of the colors by the DCSO Honor Guard at 5:15 p.m. CoCoMoes Q will provide food for the event.
