Nevada Highway Patrol officers are joining other law enforcement agencies nationwide for a nationwide Click it or Ticket event on May 20.
The federal Transportation Department highway safety administration is asking all states to participate in the one-day seat belt awareness event.
Lt. Luis Ayala-Zapata said NHP will be accepting no excuses from vehicle occupants not wearing a belt.
“If the enforcement crackdown wakes people up to the dangers of unrestrained driving, we’ll consider our mission to be a success,” he said.
He said seatbelts save lives, front and back seat, child and adult.
