Gaming Control Board Analyst Mike Lawton said the $1.02 billion in win by non-restricted gaming licensees amounts to a 3.85 percent decrease and the reason was largely Baccarat, which brought in just $56.7 million. That is a 25.7 percent, $19.6 million decrease compared to a year ago.

Veteran Clark County District Judge Douglas Herndon has announced he will run for the Nevada Supreme Court seat being vacated by Mark Gibbons. Gibbons, currently the longest serving member of the court, has announced plans to retire when his term expires at the end of 2020.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division has identified and arrested two suspects in numerous Carson City vehicle burglaries. In October and November, the sheriff’s office investigated numerous vehicle burglaries throughout the west and north sides of Carson City. Vehicle windows had been broken out and property was stolen. Surveillance videos from homes and businesses showed a male suspect.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office Reserve Commander Tom Crawford was recognized for his commitment to volunteerism at the annual Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association conference. The Statewide Volunteer Award echoes a sense of pride within the sheriff’s office, as only one other from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was selected for this prestigious award. The 2019 conference introduced a new statewide tradition, distinguishing all aspects of law enforcement, by formally recognizing both sworn officers and citizens for their contributions.

Monday, the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the family of Tod Cline that he was missing and that they had filed a report with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. Cline’s family provided CCSO with a copy of a homemade missing person flyer consisting of his picture, an image of his truck, additional identifying information and their contact information.
The Board of Supervisors on Thursday voted to settle a lawsuit against Carson City for $1.25 million. The suit, brought by a mother on behalf of her minor daughter, involves an incident during the city’s 2016 Camp Carson Summer Camp. During a field trip to the Gold Dust West bowling alley, video surveillance captured a camp volunteer, also a minor, sexually molesting several children.

Unemployment fell again in October in both the Reno and Carson City Metropolitan Reporting Areas, remaining constant in Las Vegas. The state of Texas was the place to be for motorsports fans last weekend. NASCAR was racing at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth while Formula One competed at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has recently seen an increase in what is known as a “Virtual Kidnapping Scheme”. This is where criminals call unsuspecting people on their cell phone, based on research, and convince them they have kidnapped a family member, demanding a ransom be paid quickly.

After a shoulder injury during college, Chase Blueberg wondered if he was done with athletics. The 2014 Carson High graduate went on to be drafted by the Atlanta Braves, but opted not to sign in an effort to try to up his draft stock, instead heading to Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina.

MONDAY At 8 a.m., Robert Rowland, 61, an inmate at Northern Nevada Correctional Center, was booked on five felony counts including open murder and 1st degree murder. He was also charged with battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of assault on a protected person. He was held without bail.
Contrary to some reports, the pipeline that brings gasoline and other petroleum products over the Sierra from California to Reno is back in full service. Melissa Ruiz, a spokesman for Kinder Morgan, the company that operates the pipeline for different producers, said the line was shut down intermittently over the past couple of weeks because Pacific Gas and Electric cut off power to the line due the high winds and extreme fire danger in the Sacramento area.
The Nevada Treasurer’s Office has identified $62,114 in unclaimed property belonging to dozens of non-profit groups in the state. A spokesman said $20,185 has already returned to 15 organizations including Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, Special Olympics Nevada and Reno Artown.
