The Sears Hometown Store in north Carson City closed its doors last month.

“We are sad to announce we have officially closed. Thank you for letting us serve you,” reads an Oct. 19 post on the store’s Facebook page.

One commenter asked if Sears had recently taken over the store, which sold Sears and other brands’ appliances.

“They did, but the sales were down … they couldn’t make it,” someone from the store replied.

The Sears Hometown Stores are a separate business and the nearest stores, according to the company’s web site, are in Fallon, and two California locations, in Grass Valley and Truckee.
